Recently Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts announced the creation of brand new membership levels. Our goal in doing so is to transform the membership experience to make it more positive and more valuable. Historically, people paid their dues to be a part of our organization. But we believe membership should not be an obligation, and not even be about what you can getmembership should be about how you can belong to a vast caring support network and how you can make a difference. In other words, its about what you can give.
Membership in Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts now is about how you can help improve the lives of heart patients and their families, beginning with your own.
We are now offering a free membership level. This was created so that money will not be a barrier to engaging with Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts and receiving access to resources and information. When you join at this level, you become part of something bigger, and you help us give voice to the many issues heart patients face throughout their lifespan. You also learn about the many educational opportunities Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts provide. Finally, you join the nations largest cardiovascular disease peer-to-peer support network and help us support even more people.
There are also several levels of membership that include a donation. This allows people to support the work of this organization, not just where we have chapters, but all over the nation. Did you know we have more Members at Large (members not affiliated with a chapter) than we have chapter members? Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts provide support services to all of them, but we cant do it without the generosity of people like you.
Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts provide educational programs, peer-to-peer support programs, heart disease awareness campaigns, and we advocate for heart patients big and small every opportunity we can. We need your support to do this.
These membership donation levels are not unique to Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts. Many organizations have ways you can donate to support the organization and be part of their community. This model made sense to us as we are a community of heart patients, parents, caregivers and families.
We have made joining Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts fun too. If you join at a donation level, you receive things in return. Probably the biggest gift (and most costly to the organization) is Heartbeat magazine. Now, you probably realize this magazine is available online, but then you cant give it to a fellow heart patient you meet, put it in a hospital or doctors waiting room, or have it available even if you are not online. Heartbeat magazine has won awards, and it provides hope and inspiration to those who read it. The other items you receive, like the car decal or notecards, allow us to raise awareness of Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts everywhere we go.
We hope that you will enjoy this new membership experience. Your voice matters, your support matters, and you matter.
