Accredited Visiting – Mended Hearts

Accredited Visiting

Our Accredited Visiting program provides peer support to patients and caregivers upon diagnosis of heart disease, pre-surgery or medical procedure, during a hospital stay, during recovery, and any time support is needed.

Our trained volunteers make more than 200,000 peer connections each year. Accredited Visitors are patients, caregivers or parents themselves and listen and share information about living with heart disease from the perspective of someone who understands because they have been there.

About Accredited Visiting?

  • How Does It Work?
    • Patients who have heart disease, caregivers of adult patients, and parents of children who have heart disease are trained to visit.
    • Patients, caregivers or parents are visited (given peer support) to help reduce anxiety, answer non-medical questions, give hope, and inspire
    • Visits can be in-person, by phone, by email, by video chat or online.
