An Exciting Collaboration to Support Patients with Aortic Disease
Mended Hearts and Aortic Hope are proud to announce an exciting collaboration in 2020 to increase and enhance support for patients with diseases of the aorta and for their caregivers and families. Through this collaboration, Mended Hearts and Aortic Hope will provide hope and support to patients with aortic disease throughout their journey, along with educational resources to keep them well-informed when making healthcare decisions.
Aortic Hope members will have the option of participating in Mended Hearts’ Accredited Visitor training and receiving the benefits of Mended Hearts’ membership. Successful completion of this training will allow them to visit patients (peers) who have aortic disease. The result will be more patients who are supported by those who have been through similar experiences, and therefore, truly understand them. Aortic patients will be connected to a larger network of people like them.
Aortic disease patients, caregivers and family members who are in Mended Hearts will be provided with information about Aortic Hope so they can create long-term connections and have access to valuable resources for the aortic disease community. This will allow them to have up-to-date information on treatment and care specifically tailored to diseases of the aorta.
The two organizations will also collaborate on educational webinars throughout the year to engage those with aortic diseases, their caregivers and the medical community and to provide them with current information on managing the disease and available resources.
Mended Hearts is the largest cardiovascular peer-to-peer support organization in the United States. Our volunteers make over 230,000 visits to patients and caregivers annually in the hospital setting, reaching many more online and in local communities. Along with its program, Mended Little Hearts, Mended Hearts is the only organization in the nation that supports cardiovascular disease patients and their families throughout the entire lifespan of the patient. Mended Hearts volunteers inspire, educate and provide hope to hundreds of thousands of patients and family members each year. Mended Hearts has a robust network of patients and caregivers that provide services and outreach in 300 hospitals nationwide and in communities. Mended Hearts’ ability to reach patients and to provide peer-to-peer support is the reason our organization is so successful. Patients who have had similar experiences are able to use their experience to guide new patients and help them find the information and resources they need. They also provide a much-needed support to patients who are trying to navigate the world of heart disease. www.mendedhearts.org
